During Sunday's Angelus in St. Peter's Square, Pope Francis asked for prayers for the victims of the earthquake in Morocco that killed more than 2,000 people.

POPE FRANCIS
I pray for the injured, for those who lost their lives—so many—and for their families. I thank the rescuers and those who are working to alleviate the suffering of the people; may everyone's concrete help support the people at this tragic time. We are close to the people of Morocco!

The Pope also spoke about the beatification of the Ulma couple and their seven children. They are a Polish family who were murdered by the Nazis in 1944 for hiding persecuted Jews for more than a year.

POPE FRANCIS
May this Polish family, which represented a ray of light in the darkness of World War II, be a model for all of us to imitate in the impulse of goodness and in the service of those in need. Let us applaud this blessed family!

Pope Francis concluded by noting that the example of this family resonates in today's world that is marked by wars such as the one in Ukraine.
