In celebration of Italy's National Bible Week, Pope Francis held an audience with members of the Italian Biblical Association and teachers of Sacred Scripture.

The theme of the Bible Week is based on covenants, with a focus on the covenant of Noah, Abraham and Sinai. While reflecting on these themes, Pope Francis spoke about the relationship between man and creation.

POPE FRANCIS
Such justice has in itself an inalienable ecological dimension, in the rediscovery and respect for “the rhythms inscribed in nature by the hand of the Creator.” The Noachic covenant, then, never failed on God's part, continues to spur us to a fair and sober use of the planet's resources, which is a very serious concern at this time.

The Pope emphasized that their work cares for humanity both physically and spiritually. Before departing from the audience, he encouraged the members to continue their important mission.

POPE FRANCIS
Dear friends, go forth in your mission to help God's people feed on the Word, so that the Bible may be increasingly the heritage of all.

The Italian Biblical Association promotes the message of the Bible throughout the world and is dedicated to distributing the Sacred Scripture.
