Before entering a ger, the traditional Mongolese house, Pope Francis was greeted by a woman in traditional dress who offered him a cup of milk wrapped in a scarf.
Once inside, he met with Ms. Tsetsege, the woman who found a wooden statue of Mary in the trash 10 years ago while she was working.
The statue is known as the “Mother of Heaven” and has been kept in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul.
Last year, Cardinal Giorgio Marengo, Apostolic Prefect of Ulaanbaatar, consecrated the country to Our Lady in front of this image.
