Pope Francis met with Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khürelsükh in a traditional Mongolian hut known as a ger. The tradition of gers tend to the needs of nomads and can be quickly assembled and disassembled. They back to over 3,000 years ago.
The Pope also gifted the President an authenticated copy of a letter in the Vatican Museums. The letter dates back to the year 1246 when Mongolia's third ruler sent a response to Pope Innocent IV after he sent papal envoys to the country to gain understanding of the growing empire.
