This statue of Mary awaits Pope Francis in Mongolia. Ten years ago, a Mongolian woman found her in a garbage dump. Now, the wooden statue is enthroned in the cathedral and will be blessed by the Pope during his trip to the country.
Last year, Cardinal Giorgio Marengo consecrated Mongolia to Mary in front of this statue.
Giorgio Marengo was created cardinal in 2022 by Pope Francis and is the first cardinal in Mongolia. He has been a missionary in this country since his ordination to the priesthood.
