In the Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis met Angola's new Ambassador to the Holy See. He presented his credentials to the Pope, which include a law degree from a Russian university and international experience in conflict resolution.
The new Ambassador, Mr. Carlos Alberto Saraiva de Carvalho Fonseca, also introduced the Pope to his family.
Beautiful family. A beautiful family.
Although the Pope has not yet visited Angola, Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, returned from a trip to the southern African country a couple of weeks ago. He traveled there to attend the ordination of the first Angolan nuncio. And Cardinal Parolin even said the Pope may visit there soon.
CARD. PIETRO PAROLIN
I believe that the Pope is very interested in a trip to Angola. There has already been talk of a possibility that he might be here on a future trip to Africa.
Although there are no solidified plans for a trip, this meeting with the new Ambassador may be one step furthur in a strengthened relationship with the Church in Angola.
