Pope Francis expressed his concern for the fatalities caused by the fires in Greece. He said he prays for the victims, as the fire took the lives of more than 20 people. There were refugees hiding in the area that was later engulfed by flames.
POPE FRANCIS I assure you of my remembrance in my prayers for the victims of the fires that took place these days in northeastern Greece. I express my solidarity with the Greek people. And let us always remain close to the Ukrainian people, who are suffering because of the war and are suffering greatly. Let us not forget Ukraine.
The Pope also asked for prayers for his upcoming international trip to Mongolia.
POPE FRANCIS This is a much-desired visit and it will be an opportunity to embrace a Church that is small in numbers but lively in faith and great in charity. And also to be close to a noble, wise people, with a great religious tradition that I will have the honor to meet, especially in the context of an interreligious event.
From the window of the papal apartment, Pope Francis also sent a message to the people of Mongolia, where he expressed his excitement to see them soon.
