The government continues to oppress the Jesuits in Nicaragua. It has now banned the religious order from the country, declaring it illegal. The Jesuits responded in a statement saying this measure is “unjustified” and “arbitrary.”
They said it is one more step in the 'systematic repression' they are suffering, which has accumulated in recent weeks. First, the Central American University was forced to close and then the Jesuits who worked there were kicked out of their campus residence. This ongoing oppression is a situation that has garnered the concern of the Jesuits in neighboring countries.

I believe this act of the Government of Nicaragua and the State of Nicaragua must be regarded as an act of repression, because it also involves the judiciary.
Nicaragua's Ministry of the Interior argued that the cancellation of the Jesuits' legal entity is due to non-compliance with the obligation to report its financial statements between 2020 and 2022.
It argues that the religious order violated transparency.
The regional headquarters of the Jesuits point out that the legal cancellation was made unilaterally, without giving the opportunity for legitimate defense and without respecting “the administrative procedures established by law.”
