Welcomed by a standing ovation in the Paul VI Audience Hall, Pope Francis met with a group on a pilgrimage led by the Sisters Disciples of the Eucharistic Jesus to celebrate the centenary of their founding.
The Pope encouraged the group in their work serving the most marginalized people around the world. He reminded them that a century ago their founders began fighting a special kind of world war.
POPE FRANCIS
Against the first world war (your congregation) offered a different war: one against poverty and injustice. Against the epidemic—the 'Spanish''—it offered the epidemic of love. This has been your path. Dear sisters, of all this, you are witnesses and heirs, but also continuers, with your presence in the five continents, with the Eucharistic Centers, the schools, the missions and all the services you carry out.
The Sisters Disciples of the Eucharistic Jesus serve the poorest and most needy communities through educational and charitable works around the world.
