In between his public meetings in Lisbon, Pope Francis met for a series of interreligious and ecumenical encounters. In one, he met with this delegation from the International Dialogue Center (KAICIID).

During the meeting, the Pope stressed the importance of fraternity and dialogue and warned against proselytizing. He also expressed his appreciation for the encounter.

I like it when we meet like this.

Cardinal Miguel Ángel Ayuso, prefect of the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue, accompanied the group and explained the need for meetings like this.

From the educational point of view, this is very important to promoting dialogue.

The International Dialogue Center opened in 2012 following Pope Benedict XVI's meeting with Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah. It was founded as a joint effort by Saudi Arabia, Austria and Spain and is based in Lisbon.
