After finishing the two events of the morning, Pope Francis met with a group of 40 young people traveling to World Youth Day from Turkey.
The group came from the areas that were hit hardest by the earthquakes in February of this year.
During the 30 minute meeting, the Pope offered words of encouragement for the group and joked with them about an Argentinean expression for not understanding someone.
In Argentina, when someone speaks like blah blah blah, we say, “You're speaking Turkish.”
But the meeting also marked a special occasion—the birthday of one of the Turkish pilgrims, who turned 23. And to celebrate, they shared a dessert and sang happy birthay.
The meeting closed with the Our Father and a photo to remember the special day.
