Pope Francis dedicated his August intentions to praying for World Youth Day in Lisbon, specifically asking that it will help “young people to set out on the journey, witnessing to the Gospel” through their lives.
In his message, the Pope speaks about the importance of young people in the life of the Church. He says the Church is “not an old people's club any more than it is a youth club” and that it “needs young people so it doesn't grow old.”
Pope Francis also shares his hope for World Youth Day Lisbon, saying he would like to see “a seed for the world's future.” And he calls for a “joyful world” that is “not afraid of witnessing to the Gospel.”
