As artificial intelligence grows more common in today's society, a new program called Magisterium AI uses this technology to answer hundreds of commonly asked questions regarding the Catholic faith based on the Church's documents.

It's trained on this authoritative set of documents. When you ask Magisterium AI a question, there's this really great little user interface that you can type your questions in. But what comes out is a little chat bot message that gives you an answer based on the authoritative doctrines of the Church. And it's great because it's super easy to use.

Using artificial intelligence to help people learn more about their faith is not surprising because the Catholic Church has had a long history with science and technology.

There is this huge misconception that the Catholic faith and science are incompatible with each other.
The first person to build a mechanical clock went on to become pope, which I think is pretty interesting. And the first person to get a PhD in computer science in the United States was a Catholic nun. And a monk, a Benedictine monk was the father of modern genetics.

The program is in its initial stages. It uses both the Magisterium and papal documents like Deus Caritas Est and Lumen Gentium to be a tool for catechesis and evangelization.

Magisterium AI is a modern day example of the inherent compatibility between faith and science.
