Francis became the first pope to use Facebook Live. The Pope joined Franciscan friar and journalist, Fr. Enzo Fortunato, in a video message that lasted almost two minutes.

Pope Francis gave a few words of encouragement to those who followed the live, thanking them for their prayers.
Good evening, good people. It is true that you are good, that's what Father told me. Thank you. Thank you for your work and also for wanting to feed yourselves with water which is the word of God. If we lack water, things don't work. God's word is like water that gives life and is always with us, the water that makes us grow. Go forward with God's word. Don't abandon it and continue to be good people.
Although this is the first time a pope has made a Facebook Live, Pope Francis is not the first to use social media.
In December 2012, his predecessor, Benedict XVI, became the first pope in history to open a Twitter account under the name 'Pontifex'. Just nine days later, he posted his first tweet.
