The Claretians religious congregation kicked off their Jubilee year this July on the occasion of the 175th anniversary of their founding. It is a Jubilee that even Pope Francis wants to join—as he expressed in a letter he sent to the Superior General of the Congregation.

In it, he says the spirit of the Claretians reflects that of their founder, St. Anthony Mary Claret, who he says knew how to bring the Gospel to the geographical and social peripheries.

A few months ago, Pope Francis met with members of the Claretian Pontifical Institute, where he stressed the importance of intergenerational dialogue.

POPE FRANCIS
I urge you to live interculturality as a way of fraternity and mission and to promote the encounter between the different generations in consecrated life in both the Church and society. I want to insist on the encounter between the different generations. The young need to meet with the old, they need to talk, and the old need to talk with the young.

The Claretians were founded in 1849. Today, they are present in 70 countries around the world.
