Sr. Lucía Valladares, known as Xiskya, calls herself a 'digital missionary.' Her work consists of evangelizing on social networks and reaching out to anyone who would otherwise not learn about the Church.

She has also been chosen as a participant in the Synod on Synodality, something she never expected.

I could have never imagined it, never in my life...I've never dreamed of it. I've never thought about it.
It is a responsibility and an honor because I believe that I will be able to be the voice of all the people that I have already listened to. In some way, through me, they will be present at the synod because I will be able to tell their stories and their experiences. I will be able to share their vision and what they would like to see in the Church.

Her work on social media began 12 years ago with Imisión, a platform that offers a theological program on online evangelization. This builds on Pope Francis' challenge to Christians online. He encouraged them to be 'good Samaritans' on the the different media platforms.

Samaritanizing means listening, healing wounds and accompanying everyone who writes to us daily. They write to us privately on social media telling us about their life, their problems, asking us for prayers, book recommendations and for suggestions on which priest to speak to.

IMisión continues to grow and more and more people send them their questions and concerns. Now, there are more than 1,000 digital missionaries and over 1,200 people have taken their courses.
