During the month of July, Pope Francis' usually busy scheduled is drastically reduced. But this has not kept him from holding private meetings at his residence, Casa Santa Marta.

Thank you very much for your visit.
-Thank you. It's nice to meet you.
Very kind of you. Thank you.
-Thank you.

The Pope met with former U.S. President Bill Clinton and a delegation, including Alex Soros, the chairman of the Open Society Foundations and son of billionaire philanthropist George Soros.

This is the first time Pope Francis and the former president have met. Vatican News described the audience as private and shared that the two spoke about peace, but did not disclose any another information.

The Pope and Clinton closed the meeting with warm regards.

Thank you. It was a joy.

This is not the first time Pope Francis has met with a U.S. President during his 10 year papacy. He met with Barack Obama in 2009 and again in 2014. He held a meeting with Donald Trump in 2017 and in 2021, he welcomed President Joe Biden in the Apostolic Palace.
