Almost 30 million children have been trafficked in the last 30 years and some as young as 4 years old. 6 years ago, Director Alejandro Monteverde saw a news report on the growing child trafficking industry that changed his life.

Right there, the subject really took and shook my soul. And I knew I had to do something about it and all I know how to do is tell stories.
From that moment, Alejandro began writing a fictional story on the issue of child trafficking. But about a month into writing, his producer called and introduced him to Tim Ballard, who became the inspiration for the new film entitled, Sound of Freedom.
The film was originally set to be released in 2020. But due to the COVID pandemic it was delayed until this year. And Alejandro believes it was a blessing.

So now looking to it retrospective, the timing is perfect. Because if we would have come out with this movie any time earlier, I don't think the audiences were ready for something like this because they were not familiar with the subject matter. And I feel right now people are very familiar, not because of the movie, just because it's a problem that is going like this. And now it's everywhere.
Actor Jim Caviezel, most known for portarying Jesus in the The Passion of the Christ, stars as the movie's lead. The movie, which premieres on July 4th, brings one man's story and the issue of child trafficking to light.

Child trafficking is a major, major problem. But there is also another problem—is for good people to know about it and to do nothing about it. So, all I ask is for people to come and enjoy the film. That's #1.

For me, I like to make movies that begin when the movie ends. And when the audience leaves the theater, it's just to feel moved enough to create awareness of this. Because awareness creates change.
Alejandro says this film is meant to tell more than just a story. It is meant encourage people to do what they can to combat child trafficking.
