During the Angelus on the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul, Pope Francis emphasized that the first pope was an imperfect man.
POPE FRANCIS
He is not superman: he is a man like us, like each of us, who says 'yes' to Jesus generously in his imperfection.
He encouraged those present not to be intimidated by their own shortcomings when trying to live the faith.
The day had a special emphasis on ecumenism. A delegation from the Orthodox Patriarchate of Constantinople came to Rome and Pope Francis greeted them.
POPE FRANCIS
I extend my greetings to the Delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, who participated in today's celebration. I send a hug to my dear Brother, His Holiness, Bartholomew.
After these words, the Pope said farewell to those present until the next public event.
