Pope Francis sent papal almoner Cardinal Krajewski to multiple Ukrainian cities and specifically to Kherson—the southern city devestated by flooding from the destruction of a dam.
The Cardinal brought food and medical supplies along with him as well as the Pope's embrace. He continues to assure the communities of the Pope's prayers for them.
In a message sent to the Vatican, Cardinal Krajewski said the city is almost deserted and still suffering active attacks and bombings. He requested prayers for the people and urged us all to “not get used to this war.”
The Polish cardinal delivered these words while another cardinal, Matteo Zuppi, traveled to Moscow to carry out another phase of the Pope's peace mission.
