In a private audience in the Apostolic Palace, Pope Francis welcomed Canada's new Ambassador to the Holy See, Paul Gibbard.
He has over 30 years of experience in foreign affairs. Ambassador Gibbard has worked on political, economic and indigenous issues across South America, Africa and the Middle East.
Next month marks the one year anniversary of Pope Francis' visit to Canada. There, he encouraged dialogue with the Indigneous community and apologized for the history of “evil committed by many Christians” against the Indigenous peoples.
