-I love it when you come

-Me too

-Good to see you back on your feet

-Halfway there because I still have stitches to go

The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, met with Pope Francis in one of his first official meetings after his release from the hospital.

After a 40-minute conversation, the President gifted Pope Francis a sculpture by a Cuban artist and two poetry books.

They are two beautiful poems—two valuable books. It seemed to me that you would appreciate them.

Pope Francis gift to the Cuban President included his apostolic letter and a sculpture with a dove carrying an olive branch.

-Be messengers of peace

In addition to his meeting with the Pope, the Cuban President also met with the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin. They discussed diplomatic relations between Cuba and the Holy See, amidst the backdrop of the 25th anniversary of the historic visit of Pope John Paul II.

This meeting with Pope Francis is part of the Cuban President's European visit where he hopes to promote and diversify connections for Cuba's development.
