In preparation for the 7th World Day of the Poor, Pope Francis released his message, emphasizing the need for “daily efforts to welcome the poor.”
The Pope explains that there are new forms of poverty. It includes children deprived of their futures and people in war-torn countries.
He challenges every Christian to become “personally involved” in combatting the “great river of poverty traversing our cities.”

The World Day of the Poor which we are celebrating asks us to not look away, to not be afraid to take a close look at the suffering of the most vulnerable.
Last year, the Vatican resumed its initiative of setting up a mobile clinic in St. Peter's Square to offer medical services to the needy on the World Day of the Poor.
This year the day will be celebrated on Sunday, November 19.
