The Vatican Court has found the individuals responsible for this protest in August 2022 guilty.

Guido Viero and Ester Goffi glued their hands to the statue of the Laocoön in the Vatican Museums.

Their sentence is nine months in prison and a fine of $1,600. Laura Zorzini, who filmed the protest, must pay a fine of $130. The Vatican Court is also ordering the trio to pay $30,000 in damages to the Vatican City Government.

The activists argued that they had caused minor damage. They were advocating for the use of renewable energy. The Vatican City Government claimed that art and environment cannot be set against each other and that the damage had been done to an object of inestimable value.

The activists are part of the group, Last Generation.
