At the end of his General Audience on Wednesday, Pope Francis greeted a group of the Spanish Civil Guard, usually deployed in Israel and Palestine.

Taking advantage of the presence of the Civil Guard, which is in Jerusalem (inaudible). I wanted to thank them for what they do to keep the peace and for their work against all kinds of terrorism. May God bless you. Pray for me.
Immediately afterwards, Pope Francis went to Rome's Gemelli Hospital for surgery.
