In Rome, 25 members of the Prelature of Opus Dei received priestly ordination from the Prefect for the Dicastery for the Clergy.
The new priests hail from a wide variety of backgrounds—featuring careers in engineering, journalism and politics, to social work and teaching. The 25 priests come from 12 different countries.
The Prefect of the Dicastery for the Clergy, Cardinal Lazzaro You Heung-sik left a clear message for the new priests: place special emphasis on fraternity with one another. He said it is key to support eachother and share both joys and troubles.
The Prelature of Opus Dei, founded in 1928, is an institution of the Church that includes both married members and those who live in celibacy for apostolic reasons.
