The man who forcibly entered the Vatican with his car has already been interrogated. Upon seeing his condition, the judge decided to forcibly admit him to the psychiatric ward of the Santo Spirito hospital.

The man caused panic in the Vatican when he forced his way into the Vatican on Thursday night with his car.

He overcame the controls of the Swiss Guard and the Gendarmerie. A Gendarmerie inspector shot at one of the vehicle's wheels in an attempt to stop him, but without success.

Finally the man got out of the car on his own and was arrested in the Cortile di San Damaso, very close to the Apostolic Palace.

I think it was something that no one knew about. To me, the area seems to be super safe, very quiet. In all those places where there is a lot of people, isolated events can happen, but it is very safe to walk around.

And tourists continue their visits with peace of mind.

Let's say that the Vatican in general and Rome in general seem to me to be well taken care of. There is always the presence of police, guards, carabinieri.... So, I think it's very safe. I have seen cars enter the Vatican, but in a very controlled way. I see the guards always very attentive.

It's not the first time the Vatican has dealt with this kind of problem. In 2014, a man scaled the facade of St. Peter's Basilica in protest of an economic problem impacting his restaurant .

And in 2009, a woman attacked Pope Benedict XVI during the Midnight Mass.
