Pope Francis met with representatives of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences to discuss solutions for the global food crisis.

This is an urgent challenge because too often in situations marked by natural disasters and armed conflicts—I am thinking especially of the war in Ukraine—political or economic exploitation of the earth, our common home, hinder food production, undermine the resilience of agricultural systems and dangerously threaten the nutritional supply of entire populations.
The Pontifical Academy of Sciences is dedicated to researching worldwide issues, specifically those in developing countries. Its members have included renowned scientists such as Max Planck and Niels Bohr.
