Pope Francis arrived at Franz Liszt International Airport in a Fiat 500.
He was met by the president of the country, Katalin Novák, who accompanied him each day of the trip.
The Hungarian Ambassador to the Holy See, Eduard Habsburg, gave him a white rose to leave in front of the icon of Mary at the Basilica of St. Mary Major that Pope Francis visits before and after each trip.
Pope Francis and President Novák said goodbye to the civil and religious authorities. And then they said goodbye to each other.
Bless him and pray for me. I pray for you. I do it for you. I pray for you. I am happy.
This trip was the first since Malta in April 2022 where Pope Francis used a cane and not a wheelchair to move along the runway. Although he still used an elevator to board the plane.
