For his first official meeting on the second day of his trip to Hungary, Pope Francis visited the Blessed László Batthyány-Strattmann Institute.

The Institute Director, György Inotay, gave a brief welcome and recited a Francescan prayer in Latin. Then some students performed different songs, including the Hail Mary and the song of Charity.

Together with two children, the Director presented the Pope with gifts. One of the presents was a papier-mâché statue of Mary, Undoer of Knots.

In a brief speech, Pope Francis reflected on the work of the Institute and how it reflects the lives of the saints and how they embraced reality while trying to help better the lives of others.

This is the Gospel way. This is the way of Jesus. And this is what you, Director, also wanted to express with the prayer of St. Francis.

The Institute was founded in 1982. It is a school for about 70 visually impaired children and young people and those with special needs.
