Pope Francis welcomed the Interfaith Leaders from Greater Manchester in a private audience in the Vatican.
In the meeting, the Pope focused on the urgent need for environmental protection and challenged the leaders to think of climate crises with the poor in mind.
POPE FRANCIS
Our present commitment to protecting God’s creation must be part of a broader effort to promote an integral ecology that respects both the dignity and value of each human person. It must acknowledge the tragic effects that environmental decline has on the poor.
The Pope thanked the leaders for their work and emphasized the important role they have in instilling a respect for nature and human life in their communities.
In the close of the meeting, Pope Francis addressed the leaders as his friends and assured them of his prayers.
