Pope Francis met with the Italian National Institute of Social Security (INPS) for their 125th anniversary. The Pope reflected on the importance of creating dignified conditions of employment.
POPE FRANCIS
The first appeal is a no to undeclared work. But let it become part of the culture: no to undeclared work. In the short term, in fact, it seems to bring economic benefits to the individual, but in the long term it does not allow families to contribute and have fair access to the pension system.
Pope Francis also expressed his concern about the working conditions for young people.
POPE FRANCIS
The second appeal is a no to the abuse of temporary work, which affects the living conditions of young people and sometimes forces them to work even when they lack the strength.
The INPS was created in 1898 with the goal of protecting workers against age and disability discrimination. It is now Italy's main pension provider.
