The latest update on Pope Francis' health reveals that 'his clinical condition is progressively improving.' He slept well during his first night in Rome's Gemelli hospital, had breakfast, read the newspaper, prayed and received the Eucharist in the private chapel reserved for him.
The Pope was admitted to the hospital on March 29 after complaining he had been having difficulty breathing for several days. In a statement, the Holy See Press Office reported that he had a respiratory infection and would need a few days of medical care.
The Press Office also expressed Pope Francis' gratitude for 'the many messages he received' and people's 'solidarity and prayer.'
