Holy Week begins on April 2. Pope Francis will preside over the Mass on Palm Sunday at 10am in St. Peter's Square. The Vatican has not yet confirmed if he will participate in the initial procession. Last year, he was unable to due to his knee problems and this Ash Wednesday, his knee kept him from walking in the procession from the Basilica of San Anselmo to that of Santa Sabina.
On Holy Thursday at 9:30 a.m. the Pope will celebrate the Chrism Mass. In other years, he has then celebrated the Mass of the Lord's Supper in different Roman prisons. But this year it has not yet been confirmed.
April 7 marks Good Friday. At 5:00 p.m. Pope Francis will preside over the Liturgy in St. Peter's Basilica. And, at 9:15 p.m., he will participate in the traditional Stations of the Cross in the Colosseum.
On Holy Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the Pope will celebrate the Easter Vigil in St. Peter's Basilica.
Pope Francis will celebrate the Easter Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square at 10:00 am on April 9. At noon, he will give the Urbi et Orbi blessing from the central loggia of St. Peter's Basilica.
