During his General Audience on March 8, Pope Franics offered a special greeting for the women in the Square.
POPE FRANCIS
On International Women's Day, I think of all women. I thank them for their commitment to building a more humane society through their ability to grasp reality with a creative gaze and tender heart. This is a privilege unique to women. A special blessing for all the women in the Square. A round of applause to the women. Yes, they deserve it.
In his Catechesis, the Pope explained a crucial aspect of the Second Vatican Council and the apostolic exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium—all Christians must evangelize. It is not a task exclusive to priests or religious.
POPE FRANCIS
Are you a Christian? Yes, I have received Baptism. And do you evangelize? What does that mean? If you don't evangelize, if you don't give testimony, if you don't give that baptismal testimony that you have received of the faith that the Lord has given you, you are not a good Christian.
Pope Francis asked believers not to become stagnant in their faith and to find new ways of proclaiming the Gospel. He warned against false prophets who disguise themselves as evangelizers but deep down are not.
POPE FRANCIS
Evangelization is a service. If a person says he is an evangelizer and does not have that attitude, that servant's heart and thinks of himself as a master...He is not an evangelizer; he is a poor man.
Taking advantage of the good weather, Pope Francis returned to holding his General Audiences in St. Peter's Square. He invited some children to travel in the Popemobile with him before greeting the pilgrims.
