At 86 years of age and after a decade as the successor of St. Peter, Pope Francis has only one continent left to visit: Australia. Throughout these 10 years, he has made 40 international trips in which he has visited 10 African countries, 18 Asian, 20 European and 12 in the Americas. In total, he has traveled almost 255,000 miles, which is equivalent to a trip to the moon.

The Pope began an extraordinary Jubilee, called the Jubilee of Mercy in 2015. He also held four synods: one on the family, one on the youth, one on the Amazon and one on Synodality.

Pope Francis has also published several documents, including three encyclicals, one of them with Pope Benedict XVI, and 5 apostolic exhortations. Together with the College of Cardinals, he carried out the reform of the Curia through the new apostolic constitution, Praedicate Evangelium.

Pope Francis has named 111 of the 223 cardinals in the College of Cardinals. He is also one of the popes who has canonized the most people—a total of 911. 812 are known as the martyrs of Otranto, who were killed during the ransacking of the Italian coast by the Turks at the end of the 15th century.

*Data calculated by Rome Reports, based on the number of kilometers per trip the Pope made, provided by the Holy See Press Office. The moon is 238,855 miles (384,400 km) away from the Earth.
