Following the Angelus, Pope Francis remembered the people suffering around the world. He first expressed his concern for the ongoing violence in the Holy Land.
POPE FRANCIS
Painful news is still coming from the Holy Land—so many people killed, even children...
I renew my call for dialogue to prevail over hatred and revenge, and I pray to God for the Palestinians and Israelis, that they find the path of fraternity and peace with the help of the international community.
The Pope also prayed for an end to the unrest in Burkina Faso, a country in West Africa facing numerous terrorist attacks.
Towards the end of the Angelus, Pope Francis mourned the news of the migrant boat shipwreck off the Calabrian coast, killing almost 60 men, women and children.
POPE FRANCIS
I pray for each of them, for the missing and for the other surviving migrants. I thank those who have provided relief and those offering shelter. May Our Lady support these brothers and sisters of ours.
To close the prayer, Pope Francis greeted different pilgrim groups from Spain, Mexico and Croatia.
