The Society of Jesus has changed its policy against Father Marko Rupnik, the famous Jesuit theologian and internationally renowned artist.

Until now, precautionary measures had been taken, such as prohibiting him from publicly exercising his priestly ministry and from leaving the area around Rome. The latest update is that from now on he will not be able to create artwork publicly, especially for religious structures.

The reason is that over the last few months, complaints have come in from several women who say the abuse they suffered was not limited to isolated episodes in the 1990s, but spanned from the mid-80s to 2018. The alleged victims claim that they suffered abuse of conscience as well as spiritual, psychological and sexual abuse.

The Society of Jesus considers the accusations to be credible and has attempted to contact Father Rupnik without success. They will continue to do so.
