Participants of the training course for legal workers called, 'The Ministerium Iustitiae in the Synodal Action of the Church,' met with Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace. The Pope emphasized that their work begins with evangelization.
POPE FRANCIS
Evangelizing is the primary legal commitment of both pastors and all the faithful. It is what makes the difference, for example, among priests— between a pastor and a state cleric.
Pope Francis also urged the legal workers to avoid falling into a bureaucratic and rigid way of life. He reminded them that their mission is not just to follow the theoretical canons that they learn during the course but to apply them to real life.
POPE FRANCIS
Don't forget the greatest principle of evangelization: that reality is superior to the idea, the 'tangible' things of life are superior to the superficial. Always. Reality is greater than any idea, and this reality should be helped with law.
The training course is promoted by the Tribunal of the Roman Rota, an organization founded in 1908 to safeguard rights within the Church.
