The Church's mission territories seek help in many different ways—one being through donations. On World Mission Sunday and throughout the year, the Pontifical Mission Societies work to collect money, which goes to territories like Sierra Leone.

One way to help the missionaries is to be there when they need us. That can mean financially helping those, for example, who need to be hospitalized. Whenever possible, we help in any way that we can.
In mission territories, religious sisters also ask for prayers, and are dedicated to praying for their neighbors. To them, prayer is another way of being a missionary—and they even pray for those of different faiths.

We visit families when they lose a loved one.
Even if the family isn't Catholic, we still pray with them. Although we are not of the same religion, giving condolences and praying with them is a way of being witness to God.
The missions also seek help through service and today, anyone can become involved. Every year in Spain, roughly 10,000 people spend their vacations volunteering in missions around the world.

A missionary cannot run a mission alone. We are always going to need others, and one thing that has impressed me is the number of Spanish missionaries that I've met. I thank God that they have come to give their lives, service, prayer and financial aid to our mission.
The work of the missionary church is made possible by those who donate, pray for them, and volunteer their service. What makes their mission unique is its universality—the whole church is included as they serve others in the name of the Pope.
