Turkish Ambassador to the Holy See, Ufuk Ulutaş, met with Pope Francis in the Apostolic Palace.

Ambassador Ulutaş presented his credentials to the Pope.

In the hopes of bringing our relationship to a better place, I present you my credentials.

-Thank you. That's very kind of you.

The Ambassador gave the Pope ceramics, tiles and a book he wrote about terrorism.

Pope Francis then presented Ambassador Ulutaş with a medal marking his 10th anniversary as pope and a collection of some of his papal texts.

During the private meeting, the Pope also signed a book dedicating these words to the Turkish people affected by the earthquake:

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the noble Turkish people at this time of great sorrow. Dear brothers and sisters, I am close to you and I'm praying.”
