Pope Francis joined the chorus of international leaders expressing concern over the rising tension in the Holy Land.
The Pope spoke of the 10 Palestinians killed by Israeli army gunfire and the 7 Jews killed by a Palestinian outside a synagogue.
POPE FRANCIS
With great sorrow, I learned of the news of the Holy Land.
The spiral of death that increases day by day only destroys the small glimmer of trust that exists between the two nations.
Pope Francis also pointed out that on Tuesday he will travel to another region immersed in a spiral of conflict.
POPE FRANCIS
Dear brothers and sisters, the day after tomorrow, I leave for an apostolic journey to the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Republic of South Sudan.
I ask everyone to please join me in prayer on this journey.
Like every Sunday, the Pope also asked for prayers for peace in Ukraine. On this occasion, he also petitioned for a de-escalation of the tension between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
