At the funeral of Pope emeritus Benedict XVI, held in St. Peter's Square, his personal secretary, Archbishop Georg Gänswein, knelt down and kissed his coffin.

During the Mass, Pope Francis said a prayer in Latin asking God to admit his predecessor into Heaven.

At the end of the ceremony, the Pope approached the coffin, carried by the Vatican pallbearers, blessed it and prayed before it.
