The body of Pope emeritus Benedict XVI was transferred to St. Peter's Basilica early this morning. After his closest companions kept vigil at the Matter Ecclesiae monastery, the Pope emeritus' body was placed into a car and taken to the Basilica. Those who cared for him in his last moments followed behind the car.
The body was then incensed and exposed in the central nave of the Basilica in front of the main altar. Pilgrims from around the world will be able to visit him to pay their last respects in the coming days.
