In the Paul VI Audience Hall, Pope Francis met with members of the Movement of Christian Workers to mark 50 years since the organization's founding.

He asked them to continue promoting dignified work for women and encouraging young people to join the labor force. The Pope said, however, that they should do so with respectable work contracts that do not leave them hunger, which he called exploitation.

POPE FRANCIS

Labor is undergoing a transformation that needs to be followed. Social inequalities, forms of slavery and exploitation, poverty due to a lack of work or poor paying jobs are realities that must be heard in our spaces in the Church.

After 50 years, the Movement of Christian Workers gathers more than 50 organizations across four continents. Its goal is to improve living conditions for workers and their families.
