At his General Audience, Pope Francis expressed his concern over a new wave of missile strikes in Kyiv, that hit residential buildings and killed at least one person.

POPE FRANCIS
I was pained and worried to hear the news of another and more powerful missile attack on Ukraine, which resulted in deaths and damages to many civilian infrastructures. We pray that the Lord converts the hearts of those who still point to war, and lets the desire for peace prevail for the martyred Ukraine.

Just prior, the Pope continued his series of catechesis on discernment, and explained that feeling and understanding one's emotions is essential to making important life decisions.

POPE FRANCIS
Important choices are not made by a lottery, no. They have a cost, a price you have to pay with your heart, the price of the decision.

We must all pay for this decision to get out of the state of indifference.

He added that one way to prepare oneself for decision-making is by forming a mature two-way relationship with God, which includes engaging Him in conversation rather than merely asking for things in life.

POPE FRANCIS
It might seem strange, unreal, to ask the Lord, “How are you?” But instead, it is a very beautiful way of entering into a real, sincere relationship with His humanity, with His suffering, and with His singular loneliness.

The Pope then ended his General Audience by praying for the victims of the terrorist attack in Istanbul, which killed six and injured 81.
