Pope Francis signed a book in Bahrain's book of honor, referencing the nation's name which means “two seas” in Arabic, on account of its freshwater springs tucked beneath saltwater oceans.
From the kingdom of Bahrain, the “'land of two seas,'” wrote the Pope, “I pray to the Almighty from the troubled sea of conflict, that humanity may approach a pacific sea of coexistence, following the course of encounter and rediscovering the compass of fraternity.”
Afterwards the Pope signed a picture of him with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, taken the day before upon his arrival to the island nation.
