On Sunday, registration opened for World Youth Day, which will take place in Lisbon in August.
During the Angelus, Pope Francis registered for the international event, accompanied by two young Portuguese representatives.

I have invited two Portuguese youngsters to be here with me while I also register, as a pilgrim. I will do it now. There, I have registered. You, have you registered? Do it.
As always when there are beatifications, the Pope asked for a round of applause for the new blesseds in Spain.
They are Vicente Nicasio and 11 companions of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. All of whom were killed in 1936 during the civil war.

The example of these witnesses of Christ, who even shed their blood, push us to be consistent and courageous. May their intercession sustain those who strive today to sow the Gospel in the world. A round of applause for the new blesseds!
Pope Francis asked for prayers for those affected by the flooding that devastated 19 countries in western and central Africa. It is estimated that more than 5 million people have been impacted.
