With the war in Ukraine and unrest in other parts of the world, people are doing their part to push for peace. Some soccer legends and current players are coming together to use their talent to fight for peace.
Former soccer player and teammate of Diego Armando Maradona, Ciro Ferrara joined other soccer players at a press conference for the Match for Peace.

Actually, we are all gathered here for a very important reason, given the dramatic situation, there could not be a better time for Pope Francis to invite all of us—obviously we are deeply proud to be part of this one team—all fighting together for the conquest of peace.

Captain, Scholas Team
I am super proud to be the captain of one of these teams and to send such a strong and important message.
This third edition of the Match for Peace is more special as it is also a way of remembering Maradona, who used to participate in the event and was captain of the Scholas team.
Scholas Occurrentes is an international association focused on creating an atmosphere of encounter and education. It organizes the Match for Peace as an inter-religious charity event.

For this, thank you to these great players because you all are our true teachers. And I do not believe in randomness. I am grateful that the World Cup for Peace is being played here in Italy.
Earlier this year, Pope Francis blessed the ball that will be used in the game. Various soccer players and legends, such as Ronaldinho are predicted to play in the Match.
The Match for Peace will take place on November 14 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome with its slogan, “We play for peace.”
