There, he said that it is important to reflect on the causes that lead people to leave their homes. He noted that the role of universities is important because they are called to 'interact with the social context that they find themselves in.'

The university can contribute to identify and indicate the bases for building an intercultural society, where ethnic, linguistic and religious diversity is seen as a source of enrichment and not as an obstacle to the common future.
He also called for more in-depth study of the environmental causes that favor migration, because the overexploitation of natural resources is making some regions of the world uninhabitable.
